According to the Smithsonian Institution, the finest museum system in the world, "Rock & Soul: Social Crossroads" is the story of the body of music that had the most influence on the culture and lifestyles of the world during the middle 20th Century unto this day. It affected the way we walked, the way we talked, the way we combed our hair and the way we dressed; not only in Memphis or the nation, but the entire world.

Located on world famous Beale Street, the museum offers a comprehensive Memphis music experience of the 1930s and 1940s through the explosion of Sun, Stax and Hi Records and Memphis' musical heyday in the 50s-70s, to its global musical influence through today.

The museum's digital audio tour guide is packed with over 300 minutes of information, including over 100 songs, and takes visitors at their own pace through seven galleries featuring 3 audio visual programs, more than 30 instruments, 40 costumes and other musical treasures. You'll rock with the likes of Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Sam & Dave, Al Green, The BarKays, and others.
