Plimoth Patuxet Museums (One Museum, Four Historic Sites) is a 17th-century living history museum located in the oldest town in New England, Plymouth, Massachusetts. A charming, coastal fishing town that offers history, culture, arts, entertainment, outdoor recreation, beaches, boutique shopping, wineries and breweries, and a wide-variety of cultural dining experiences all within the historic downtown and waterfront area known as the Plymouth Bay Cultural District. The museum has been named the Best Open-Air Museum by USA Today for three years in a row.

400 Years Back in Time with the Convenience of Today! Discover the history and heritage of the Wampanoag and other Indigenous Peoples who have lived here for over 12,000 years at the Historic Patuxet Homesite, then visit the 17th-Century English Village where Plymouth Colony comes to live in our immersive re-creation of the early English Pilgrim settlement, including our Rare Breed Animals. Stopby the Crafts Center to watch the recreation of 17th century arts and textiles from Plimoth Artisans, have a refreshment from the cafe overlooking the Village and Cape Cod Bay and learn the real story of the 1621 harvest feast known today as the First Thanksgiving in the gallery exhibit We Gather Together together.

Drive three miles south to visit the Mayflower and Plimoth Grist Mill, located in the Downtown Waterfront District and within a 10-15 minute walking distance. Learn about the famous 1620 transatlantic journey of the Pilgrims and the challenges they faced and the voyage of 1957 when the People of England presented Mayflower II to the People of the United States as a thank you gesture for help in WWII when you step aboard the historic ship located at Pilgrim Memorial State Park on Water Street.

Nestled along Town Brook at the other end of Brewster Gardens, a short walk from the waterfront is the Plimoth Grist Mill that tells the story of the grist (corn grinding) mill built by the Pilgrims in 1636. Step inside and explore the industrial side of 17th century Plymouth in this operational mill, Cornmeal, Grits and Flour are packaged for sale to the consumer.

The visit is self-guided. We recommend between 2 - 3 hours at Plimoth Patuxet, 1 hour at the Mayflower and to see Plymouth Rock, and 45 minute at the Plimoth Grist Mill. It is a short walk from the Mayflower/Plimoth Grist Mill. You will need to drive from Plimoth Patuxet to visit the Mayflower/Plimoth Grist Mill.

Reservation Notes:

Reservation in-advance is not needed. Tickets purchased are valid for the season, not a specific date! Purchasing a combination or Heritage Pass, guests may choose to visit the Mayflower and the Plimoth Grist Mill on different days from Plimoth Patuxet.

Parking:

Plimoth Patuxet offers free parking in the main parking lot. Visitors with disabilities should park in the lower lots, following signs for "Bus Parking" There is metered parking on the waterfront and free parking at Jenney Pond adjacent to the Plimoth Grist Mill. You may also download the Ride Circuit app on the See Plymouth website to help with free, electric car service while in the Downtown Waterfront District.

For those with mobility concerns, at Plimoth Patuxet we offer a few golf cart services to transport you from the visitor center to the exhibits and back.

Mayflower II dockside exhibit is ADA compliant, but the ship is not, there are stairs.

Food - Plentiful Cafe at Plimoth Patuxet is open 9am - 4pm, serving hot food 11am - 3pm. Here you may expand the experience to the 17th century with a tasting of English and Wampanoag dishes or modern selections.

International Guests - We offer written site map translations in Chinese, French, German, Italian, JApanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Please ask on arrival. Unfortunately we do not have audio guides.
