Drive three miles south to visit the Mayflower and Plimoth Grist Mill, located in the Downtown Waterfront District and within a 10-15 minute walking distance. Learn about the famous 1620 transatlantic journey of the Pilgrims and the challenges they faced and the voyage of 1957 when the People of England presented Mayflower II to the People of the United States as a thank you gesture for help in WWII when you step aboard the historic ship located at Pilgrim Memorial State Park on Water Street.
Nestled along Town Brook at the other end of Brewster Gardens, a short walk from the waterfront is the Plimoth Grist Mill that tells the story of the grist (corn grinding) mill built by the Pilgrims in 1636. Step inside and explore the industrial side of 17th century Plymouth in this operational mill, Cornmeal, Grits and Flour are packaged for sale to the consumer.
The visit is self-guided. We recommend between 2 - 3 hours at Plimoth Patuxet, 1 hour at the Mayflower and to see Plymouth Rock, and 45 minute at the Plimoth Grist Mill. It is a short walk from the Mayflower/Plimoth Grist Mill. You will need to drive from Plimoth Patuxet to visit the Mayflower/Plimoth Grist Mill.
