The Haunted Jail Tour

Middleton Place

Located just outside of downtown Charleston, Middleton Place is home to America's oldest landscaped gardens. This 65-acre National Historic Landmark was once the residence of the Middleton Family. Today, it boasts centuries-old flora and fauna such as camellias, azaleas, crepe myrtles and roses. Middleton Place also features a museum, plantation stableyards and restaurant, so leave plenty of time to explore one of the Lowcountry's most magnificent properties.

The Charleston Museum

Founded in 1773, The Charleston Museum is located downtown and is considered America's first museum. Check out the Lowcountry History Hall and learn about the Native Americans who first inhabited the area as well as the African American and European settles who transformed it into an agricultural empire. There's also the Armory, which houses weaponry dating back to the Revolutionary War. And don't forget the museum's Kidstory exhibit, a hands-on display exploring the rich cultural and natural history of Charleston.
